About Our Women's Health Services
Australia has three cancer screening programs that are vital for women’s health and safety: cervical screening tests (pap screenings), breast screenings, and colon cancer screenings.
Newbay Medical Clinic’s doctors will be happy to help with your screening needs. We also provide a friendly, safe, and comfortable environment so that you can feel at ease during the whole process. These screening programs have saved countless Australians from cancer, and are essential to your ongoing health. When you visit your GP, ask your doctor if the preventative measures are in place.
We also provide comprehensive contraceptive services to female patients. We can help discuss and trial different methods of contraception (from the contraceptive pill to more long-acting methods such as the Implanon) to find what is most appropriate for you as an individual.

Answering All Your Women’s Health Questions
A vital part of maintaining womens health is cervical screening, also known as pap smears. The Australian health service recommends that you have a pap test every five years, between the ages 25 and 74.
Every two years, breast cancer screenings should be performed for women aged 50-74. Screenings are possible from 40 to 49 years old and 75+ years; discuss your personal needs with your doctor to determine if it is necessary
Everybody, both men and women, should be having regular bowel cancer screenings every two years. This should be done starting at age 50.
We can discuss the various types of contraception available to you and your lifestyle. We can discuss everything from the contraceptive pill to the use of long-acting contraceptives like the Implanon. We hope to bring on a Mirena insertion service in the near future, likely with a visiting gynaecologist by late 2022.
